My entrepreneurial journey began in Grade 11 during a startup competition where I developed a product using recycled materials. Although I didn’t win, making it into the top ten sparked a passion that would shape my future. Drawing inspiration from my grandfather’s farming knowledge and my grandmother’s jam-making techniques, I went on to establish All Day Jam.

Today, All Day Jam proudly produces a range of unique flavours, including yellow melon, tomato, pear, and peach. What started as a passion project has grown into a fully operational business, with a production capacity of 1,000 units per week and the creation of eight jobs. At just 25 years old, I am proud to have sustained the business successfully for five years. One of the highlights of my journey was winning the Art of Pitch competition with SEDA and having the honour of meeting President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Like many entrepreneurs in the food sector, I faced challenges—particularly in securing food safety certifications, which are critical for market access and growth. This is where FoodBev Manufacturing SETA played a pivotal role in my journey. Through their support, I was guided through certification processes and received valuable training via the Food and Beverage Packaging Course. This significantly strengthened my understanding of HACCP standards and broader food safety regulations, equipping both myself and my team with essential industry knowledge. FoodBev SETA also supported my business by procuring jam bottles for use at their events, providing valuable market access and exposure.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, my advice is simple: prioritise compliance and certifications, remain committed to quality and innovation, and invest in developing your team.
