SETA Chambers (Sub-sectors)
The Chambers (Sub-sectors) We Serve
The FoodBev Manufacturing SETA consists of the five sub-sectors (Chambers) listed below. In accordance with the FoodBev SETA constitution, each chamber has a committee, which is a sub-committee of the Accounting Authority with responsibilities delegated by the Accounting Authority. Members of chamber committees are grouped according to the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes of their constituencies, where applicable. In addition to labour and employer organisations, interest groups connected to skills development are represented on the committee.
Processed and Preserved Food
This sub-sector includes those that manufacture prepared meat, meat products, fish, fruits, and vegetables, as well as those that process and preserve fish.
Companies in the Dairy Chamber manufacture butter, cheese, edible ice, fresh milk, ice cream, yoghurt, and ice cream.
Companies involved in baking, cooking, drying, and salting make up the Breakfast Foods Chamber. The subsector manufactures bakery products, breakfast foods, cocoa, coffee, chocolate, nuts, sugar confectionery, and tea.
Food Preparation Products
This is the largest sub-sector, which produces goods that go into making meals and beverages. Products such as noodles, spices, and sauces fall into this category.
The Beverages Chamber represents companies that produce beer, malt, mineral water, soft drinks, spirits, and wine. Wine and beer comprise a large proportion of output.
